Pen Turning Demonstration

There will be a pen-turning demonstration and workshop on Saturday April 30. Here are the details provided by Ed Tremblay and Tom Hedekar:

Date: Saturday, April 30, 2022
Time: 9:00 am until ~ noon (approx. 2 – 3 hours)
Place: Frost Fields (Peter’s  workshop)
Cost: $10.00
Presenters: Ed Tremblay & Tom Hedekar
Max. Class Size: 6 per session, with a second possible scheduled session in the afternoon.
Participants will learn safe lathe practices and all about making a pen on the lathe. Ed & Tom will discuss and demonstrate all of the steps involved in making a pen on the lathe, culminating in a finished product that will be given to one lucky workshop participant.
If there is enough demand, we will run a second session of this workshop on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm. 
There are two lathes available and there will be some pen kits available to purchase (approximately $10 each) for any participants wishing to try their hand at making a pen following the workshop.
To REGISTER for this workshop or to seek further information, please send an email totom.hedekar@telus.net  prior to Friday, April 29 and a confirmation along with some “hand-outs” will be sent to you. This session is available to MIWG members only. Please pay the $10 fee at the workshop.
What To Bring: ear protection, a face shield, or safety glasses & respirator (if you have them), at least $10 cash, workshop clothing, a folding lawn chair if you like, a coffee mug to save on disposables, snacks/lunch if you like. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate will be available on-site. Face masks are optional but recommended in close quarters.
